Further industrial action planned for bin collections

From Tuesday 20th August some bin collections in Sheffield will be affected by a Veolia refuse collectors strike. Residents are asked to put their bins out before 7am on their scheduled collection day and leave them out until they are collected.

‘Simpler Recycling’ plan for England

Plans are in place for all councils across England to make recycling easier and to help the planet. From 31st March 2026, plastic pots, tubs, trays, cartons, aluminium foil, and aerosols will be recycled with plastic films to follow by 31st March 2027.

Residents encouraged to take part in the Great British Spring Clean

The Great British Spring Clean kicks into action this weekend and Sheffield residents are being urged to get involved by organising their own community litter picks. The two-week campaign, which starts on Saturday, 16 March, is spearheaded by Keep Britain Tidy and being supported by Sheffield City Council, in conjunction with Amey, contractors for the council’s Streets Ahead programme.
