Events bring millions to Sheffield’s economy, generate community pride and support the wellbeing of residents, according to a new report from Sheffield City Council that looks at the impact of events on the city, including Tramlines.

Major Milestone at Sheffield General Cemetery Heritage Park

Sheffield General Cemetery, one of Sheffield’s most fascinating locations, is celebrating the end of a four-year £3 million conservation and repair programme this month. Extensive structural repairs to the Cemetery’s famous catacombs has been done, key monuments stabilised and the massive retaining walls supported, which are now nearing 200 years old, ensuring the Cemetery can continue to be treasured and admired by future generations.

Sheffield Botanical Gardens is partnering with the Gardens Trust to celebrate Scottish landscape gardener, horticulturalist, and writer Robert Marnock who lived from 1800 to 1889. Throughout June there will be a programme of events Celebrating Marnock at Sheffield Botanical Gardens, Weston Park, and Sheffield General Cemetery, which are all Marnock sites.

Botanical Gardens to host Sheffield Tree Fayre

Celebrating the wonder of trees and woodlands will take place again this year, with the Sheffield Tree Fayre, in Sheffield Botanical Gardens. This one-day tree-fest, running from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 20th May 2023, will feature a variety of tree-related activities including children’s outdoor forest school activities and indoor crafts, adult wood craft stalls, guided tree walks and a number of wood and tree-themed stalls.
