A statement from Lord Mayor, Cllr Tony Downing on the passing of Councillor Pat Midgley

Sheffield town hall

Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Tony Downing, said:

“It was with great sadness that I heard that our much loved friend and highly respected colleague, Councillor Pat Midgley, passed away yesterday.

“Pat served as a councillor on Sheffield City Council for 33 years. During her time as a Councillor, Pat represented Nether Edge, Castle and Manor Castle wards. She also served as Lord Mayor of Sheffield between 2000 and 2001. Pat was very much a community champion, and always had Sheffield and the community at the heart of everything she did.

“Pat truly was a Woman of Steel and will always be highly thought of and missed very much. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this very sad time.”
