Testing is a vital part in our fight against Covid-19 and your help is needed as much as ever to reduce its spread.

To have a test, you must book an appointment in advance. Demand for testing is high, so please keep trying when booking to make sure that you get a slot.

ALL Covid tests are free for everyone (apart from tests for travel). If anyone ever asks you to pay for a Covid test, report them at www.actionfraud.police.uk/guide-to-reporting

There is more about Covid scams at the bottom of this page.

Test results are taking a little longer than usual to process so please contact 119 if you don't receive yours after 48 hours.

Some testing sites are pedestrian-only and don’t have drive-through testing. If you are driving to these sites we recommend that you plan your parking in advance.

If you are showing any of the following symptoms of Covid-19, however mild, you need to get a test at a test centre (listed below) as soon as you can:

  • A high temperature
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
When to book a test

You should only book a test at one of these centres listed below if you have symptoms of Covid-19. If you have Covid-19 symptoms, you need to get a PCR test done within 48 hours. If you have symptoms you must also self-isolate at home and only leave your home to get a test.

If you have symptoms call 119 or follow the testing information on the NHS website www.nhs.uk/coronavirus to arrange a test.

From 16th August: It is still advisable for you or your child to self-isolate even if you are fully vaccinated, if you are close contact of a positive case, although it is no longer required by law. Even if you’re not displaying any symptoms, you could still pass it onto others.

Anyone without symptoms can now take a rapid Lateral Flow Device (LFD) test twice a week. These tests are available for everyone in England and there are several ways of getting them.

There are now nasal only LFD tests with different waiting times. The tests you get may be different to the ones you have done before so always check the pack instructions.

Full details can be found at https://bit.ly/Community_Testing.

What happens when you book a test

When you book your test you will be given a test site address, date and time.

Please DO NOT attend at any other site other than your allocated test centre as you will be turned away to go to the location listed on your test booking.

If you cannot get an appointment right away, stay at home and self-isolate until an appointment becomes available. And remember, there is no charge for Covid tests.
