Students across the city will be receiving their GCSE results today (Thursday 22nd August).
Good luck to everyone getting their A-Level results today
Today (Thursday 15th August) is A-Level results day.
Across the city, those who sat the exams this year will be receiving their results and Sheffield City Council would like to wish them all the best of luck in achieving what they hoped for.
The Council also wishes to praise our schools and students for their hard work preparing for the exams that will help so many realise their dreams of what they wish to do next in their lives.
Cllr Toby Malinson, Deputy Chair of the Education, Children and Families Policy Committee, said:
“I would like to wish the best of luck to all those students opening up their results today hoping to find out they had achieved what they set out to do when they started.
“We know that many have worked incredibly hard in the run up to the exam period and we hope they all get the just rewards for that work. Results day is an exciting but stressful time for many young people across Sheffield and I’d like to thank their parents and carers, teachers, school governors and support staff for playing such a vital role in helping them achieve their results.”
The Council realises that not all who sat their A-Level results this year will get the grades they had hoped for, so will now be looking at different paths forward than that which they had planned for.
There is plenty of support available for those who may find themselves in that position today. Your school pastoral team or academic leads will help you assess your options. That could be re-sitting an exam or appealing against a grade.
For those who wish to continue their studies in higher education but might not be able to take the course they had hoped for, there is also the University Clearing service.
This can be accessed by going to the UCAS website.
Cllr Mallinson added:
“I know that those who don’t quite get the grades they want today will be feeling a huge amount of disappointment. But that doesn’t mean you have to move away from what you want to do.
“There are options available to you, and you can still find the right path to where you want to be. Your pastoral teams at your schools and colleges will be able to advise on this.
“I’d like to wish all of Sheffield’s students the very best as they plan ahead for their future.”
