Councillor Mark Jones, Cabinet Member for Environment, Streetscene and Climate Change at Sheffield City Council, said:

"We know that with more people spending more time at home there will be demand for disposal of household waste. We’ve kept all our sites open throughout this pandemic and will continue to do so throughout this lockdown.

“These remain very difficult times and those working at our recycling centres are doing us all proud. We really appreciate the effort they have gone to, to keep the centres running and make sure our residents can safely get rid of their waste, also minimising the impact on our environment.

“I ask everyone visiting our sites to show respect to our workers and follow the guidelines we have in place so that we can all use them safely and keep them open.”

Residents are reminded that it is not acceptable for vehicles to queue outside the sites as this may cause potential danger for other road users trying to pass.  Drivers will initially be asked to move on by the site staff, and failure to do so will be issued with a £70 Penalty Charge Notice.
