Sheffield Lord Mayor presents ‘New Year’s Magic’

New Year’s Eve is always a big date on Sheffield’s nightlife calendar with promoters and venues pulling out all the stops to attract the city’s thousands of party-goers.

This year a brand new event is taking place at Plug Sheffield, featuring live acts and DJs, hosted and curated by Sheffield’s Lord Mayor, Magid Magid, with all the profits going to his chosen charities, Sheffield Flourish, Sheffield Women’s Counselling and Therapy Service and Unity Gym Project.

The event is being tipped as a mini-festival, where international artists will perform under the same roof as some of Sheffield’s best and brightest acts.

Cllr Magid said:
Everyone knows what a brilliant and unique music scene exists in Sheffield, and how much our residents love to party. What better night to celebrate our fantastic city and all we have to look forward to in the year ahead, than New Year’s Eve.

Together, through events like this, we can make a huge difference to the charity organisations that work so hard for vulnerable people in Sheffield, and help to give them the best possible start to 2019. I’ve set myself a target to raise more than £100,000 during my year in office and this event will make a huge contribution to that.

I can’t wait to bring in the New Year at this proper Sheffield party and to see everyone out enjoying themselves for these brilliant local causes.

The line-up includes live performances from Sheffield's best and brightest including UK Steve Edwards, Otis Mensah, Siobhan Gallagher, Franz Von, Unscene, InaVibe, Matic Mouth, Club Shefficana, Eneta & Sharon (Truly Apparent) and DJ sets from Deadbeat UK, Winston Hazel, DJ DMK, SCUMFAM, DUBCENTRAL, The Tribes, DJ MANIC, Shanty Town Selectas, Madden UK, Filla From Manilla, DJ Cardiac, Papa Al,  and Tdx.

The party takes place between 9pm – 5am on Monday 31 December at The Plug, Sheffield.

Tickets are £9 including booking fee and are available on the Tickets for Good website

The Lord Mayor of Sheffield has been raising money for Sheffield Flourish, Sheffield Women’s Counselling and Therapy Service and Unity Gym Project since May 2018 and will continue to do so throughout his term in office.
