Safe Square returns to support Sheffield through festive season
The Sheffield Safe Square will be returning for several dates over the Christmas and New Year period.
The Safe Square service is based at Barker’s Pool and is made up of a Medical Treatment Unit Trailer, a private ambulance, and two heated tents. This combination of facilities offers both medical and welfare assistance to anyone on a night out in Sheffield city centre.
Funded by the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), the Safe Square originally ran for a number of dates earlier this year.
South Yorkshire’s Mayor, Oliver Coppard, has provided £8,000 of funding through the Violence Reduction Unit for the Safe Square to run in December, with additional funding provided by Sheffield Business Improvement District.
Over Christmas and New Year, the Safe Square will run from 10:30pm-4:30am on:
Friday 13th December
Saturday 14th December
Friday 20th December
Saturday 21st December
Saturday 28th December
It will also run on New Year’s Eve, from 10pm-4:30am.
