Sheffield Half Marathon and 10k postponed to 2021
Due to Covid-19 and the impact it has had across the region, to prevent a further spread of the virus, the Sheffield Half Marathon and Sheffield 10k, due to take place in September, has now been postponed until 2021.
The Sheffield Half Marathon which normally takes place in April has been rescheduled to 28th March 2021, with the Sheffield 10k rescheduled to 26 September 2021.
Councillor Mary Lea, Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Leisure at Sheffield City Council, said:
“We have worked closely with partners Run For All to assess whether our road races can go ahead this year. The safety of participants, staff and volunteers must come first, and with so many challenges to overcome it is not possible to hold both the Sheffield 10K and Half Marathon in 2020. We’ll be working hard to bring back our races in 2021 in line with Government guidance at the time and will keep everyone informed as plans progress.”
In an email to all their participants, Run For All said: “We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience over the past few months. As you know, the Sheffield Half Marathon was postponed earlier this year and was moved to the same day as the Sheffield 10K this September.
“At the time of the postponement we had great hope that we would be able to host these events this year. Like many of you, we at Run For All, along with Sheffield City Council have been monitoring the situation on a daily basis and seeking guidance from the UK Government . Like you, we are disappointed that our return to Sheffield will have to wait another year, but the safety of you, the entrants, has to come first.”
All entries will be transferred to the new date in 2021. Unfortunately, Run For All are not in a position to be able to offer refunds. Terms and conditions can be found here.
