Sheffield delegation to attract investors to city at UKREiiF

A view of Sheffield from above at nighttime, with the roads lit up by streetlights.
Sheffield

An innovative city. A green city. A brilliant place to live, work and invest. That is the message coming from Sheffield leaders as a delegation from the city heads to the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREIFF).

This year Sheffield will be attending in partnership with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) to showcase everything the city has achieved over the last 12 months and how the foundation has now been laid to attract further investment to Sheffield.

Team Sheffield will be talking housing, culture and transport infrastructure at UKREIIF. From Sheffield’s transformational ‘Heart of the City’ development, which has created more than 1.5 million sq ft of individually designed and repurposed buildings surrounded by enlivened streets and public spaces in the city centre. Through to the regeneration of Castlegate, which will turn an under-used area of the city into a hub for celebrating the city’s arts and culture scene. The project includes ambitious plans to de-culvert the River Sheaf introducing new greenery and public spaces, creating an attractive area for people to visit.

You can also find out more about how Sheffield’s flourishing creative and independent spirit is impacting the city’s property scene with developers Capital and Centric. And a pioneering new National Centre for Child Health Technology is being developed at the city’s Olympic Legacy Park with the support of levelling up funding.

The Sheffield Showcase will take place on at on 16 May from 11am -12 at the Cinema Theatre. Delegates will hear from leaders from across the city and region, including:

  • Kate Josephs – Chief Executive, Sheffield City Council
  • Oliver Coppard – South Yorkshire Mayor
  • Peter Denton– Homes England Chief Executive Officer
  • Sir Martin Donnelly - Former permanent secretary of Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and of the Department for International Trade
  • Legal and General

Kate Josephs, Chief Executive at Sheffield City Council, said:

“UKREiiF is a fantastic opportunity to showcase all Sheffield has to offer to investors.  This year we are teaming up with SYMCA and other local authorities in the region to highlight the incredible work that is happening across South Yorkshire on innovation, housing, culture and more.

“Sheffield is a city renowned for thinking, making and inventing. Whether it's digital innovation, or excellence in engineering, it is responding positively to changes in the global economy. Average salaries and rents are up. It has been predicted our economy will be the fastest to grow in Yorkshire for 2023.

With growth comes opportunities. Opportunities to invest. Opportunities to attract new business. Central to our success is our commitment to collaboration between local government, investors, and developers. Our focus is on working together to create a city that benefits all. We will be sharing these stories in May at the UKREiiF conference.”
