With the number of shopping days rapidly disappearing before Santa begins his rounds, and the chance to get your free TravelMaster CityWide One-Day ticket running out, Sheffield City Council has decided to extend the offer.
Sheffield shoppers to get early Christmas present with thousands of free CityWide Day travel tickets
As the clock continues to tick down to Christmas and Santa Claus prepares to make his rounds, residents in Sheffield are being offered a helping hand to ensure they tick everything off their festive shopping list.
10,000 free TravelMaster CityWide Day travel tickets worth £5.90 are being made available to people via the BetterPoints Sheffield app. Anyone with 50 points on the app will be able to claim one of 10,000 CityWide Day tickets which allow them unlimited bus and tram travel to move around the city as much as they want to, on any single day between Friday 1 December and Christmas Eve.
Whether travelling by bus, tram, or a combination of both, the festive gift means shoppers will be able to leave their cars at home and take public transport into the city centre, to enjoy the Christmas Market and everything else we have on offer in Sheffield throughout the day of travel.
The BetterPoints Sheffield app has already been downloaded more than 5,000 times since it launched in September and turns your steps, cycle rides, and public transport trips into shopping vouchers or donations to local charities.
In the run up to Christmas, you can now use the points you accumulate in the app towards a free city wide day of public transport travel. The offer is available to new and existing users with just 50 points required to claim the free ticket.
Cllr Ben Miskell, Chair of the Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee said:
“Our changing city centre, along with other shopping areas across Sheffield, offer some fantastic places to shop, eat, meet up with friends, and enjoy the magic of Christmas. With this TravelMaster CityWide Day travel ticket, we are giving you yet another reason to come into the city centre at this special time of year.
“The ticket offers shoppers the opportunity to not only buy that must-have gift but also to enjoy all the festive fun we have around the city this year, including our festive markets.
“The build up to Christmas can be a stressful time for those tasked with shopping for the family but this incredible offer takes away part of that stress by taking care of getting into and out of town.”
How to claim your free ticket:
The offer is limited to one ticket per person. People downloading and registering with the BetterPoints app for the first time will receive 100 points which means new users can claim a free CityWide Day bus and tram ticket.
When claiming this reward people will be sent a digital voucher for a day’s travel on any bus and tram which must be redeemed via the First Bus mobile app.
When entering the voucher code the First Bus app will provide people with a mobile e-ticket which must be used on the day the voucher code is redeemed. The e-ticket is not exclusive to First Bus and will be eligible for any bus or tram travelling across Sheffield that day.
