New road traffic measures designed to help fans leave Hillsborough Stadium following Sheffield Wednesday games have been given the green light.

Both carriageways of Penistone Road will be closed for up to an hour on Saturday match days from 4.30pm onwards after both sides agreed to the measures this week.

Similar closures will also be in place for midweek kick-offs with a short diversion for motorists and other road users.

The Council, which is in charge of the licensing arrangements at Sheffield Wednesday, is continuing to work with the club to ensure supporter safety remains paramount.
