Statement from the Chair of the Race Equality Partnership for Sheffield

Fatima Khan-Shah, Chair of the Race Equality Partnership, said:

“Racism has no place in Sheffield, or anywhere. The acts of hate and discrimination we have witnessed across the country and the region in the past few days have been devastating to see.

“We send our support to our neighbours in Rotherham, who over the weekend experienced hideous scenes of violence.

“Sheffield is a proud City of Sanctuary. Everyone here should feel valued and supported and the rich diversity of our communities should be celebrated.

“The Race Equality Partnership for Sheffield will continue to support partners and communities to work together to build an inclusive, caring, cohesive and anti-racist city.

“During these worrying times, it is important we take care of one another. Of our friends, family, neighbours and colleagues. We are stronger when we stand together, united.”
