New café for popular Sheffield beauty spot, the Botanical Gardens

Work will be starting in the next few days to refurbish the old Curators House Team Rooms within the Botanical Gardens. Following a recent tender process Sheffield City Council are really excited to announce that Joni will be opening their new site this Summer after a short period of refurbishment which starts in March.

Rose Garden Café survey findings and next steps

Additional structural surveys have been completed at the Rose Garden Café Building in Graves Park. Findings support initial concerns and the full survey reports will now be used to help determine costs of future options for the site and inform the upcoming public consultation.

Temporary exclusion zone outside Graves Building (Central Library)

A recent external survey of the Graves Building (Central Library) showed that there are substandard areas of stone or brickwork on all sides of the building. A temporary exclusion zone is being installed around the outside of the building today. Entrances and exits will have protective scaffold canopies installed for the safety of members of the public and our staff.

Rose Garden Café set for festive reopening

Following further structural surveys and works to make the building safe, the Rose Garden Cafe at Graves Park is all set for a festive reopening, on a takeaway basis from Thursday 22 December.

No more library book fines in Sheffield

Councillor Alison Teal, Executive Member for Sustainable Neighbourhoods, Wellbeing, Parks and Leisure, said: “From now on we will not be charging anyone for returning their books late. We’ve never charged children, and the good news is, this now applies to all adults too.  If you have any overdue library books from before the pandemic, and you’re worried about paying the fines, just return them to your library. You won’t need to pay a fine."
