Delays to waste and recycling collections expected in November

Street with bins being collected by bin lorry

Sheffield waste and recycling collections throughout November may be disrupted due to industrial action.

Veolia continue to work with their staff and GMB representatives to resolve the issues and are doing everything possible to minimise disruption for residents.

Sheffield City Council is not involved in the dispute, which remains between Veolia and their staff.

Strike action is planned on Monday mornings from 8 November from 6.30 am to 10.30 am.

Monday 8 November, Black Bin collections:

If your black bin is due for collection on Monday 8 November, we will attempt to collect your black bin on the weekend before your scheduled collection day. Please put your black bin out for collection by 7am on Saturday 6 November and leave it out until it has been emptied.

Monday 8 November, Recycling Collections:

If your blue bin, brown bin or green bin is due for collection on Monday 8 November, please put your bin out for collection as normal by 7am on Monday and leave it out until it has been emptied.

For all other collection days:

Bins should be emptied as normal and residents are asked to put their bin out for collection by 7am on their usual day. The industrial action may mean that some residents’ bins are not emptied on their scheduled day. If your collection does not take place, please leave your bin out until it has been emptied.

All Household Waste Recycling Centres are unaffected and remain open from 9.30am until 3.30pm.  Residents are advised to check site opening days at before visiting.

Regular bin collection updates will be provided and for up-to-date information and service alerts about your recycling and waste collections, our website or follow @Recycle4Shef on Twitter.
